So good to meet you! I hope we can get to know each other even more in the coming days. Let me tell you a little about me. My name is Erin, and I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, teacher, friend, blogger, writer…..in other words, I am a busy momma.
My guess is that you are too. Don’t we all just want the best for our children, our families, and ourselves? SodieDooDotch is meant to help with that. It is a community for busy mommas to find a little balance, have some support and encouragement, and rediscover the joys in our hectic lives.
A Few Facts:
-I have a Bachelor’s degree in English with secondary certification and a Master’s degree in educational leadership. However, it is safe to say that I have learned more from my own children, as well as the students I teach, than I could have ever learned sitting in a college classroom.
-From very early on, I knew I was meant to have children. I dreamed of the day that I would rock my own children in my arms. Boy was I in for a surprise when my sweet little bundle of joy would not cooperate like my plastic baby doll had when it came time to change his diaper.
-I live with my sweet hubby, Derek, and our two little boys (ages 4 and 2) in Fort Worth, TX. Our days are typically filled with tee-ball, Sonic slushies, bugs, legos, trainsets, and the occasional snail sliming its way through my house.
Life is busy, and fun, and crazy, and busy…did I already mention that life is busy? I struggle with finding balance; and at times, I allow the chaos of life to get in the way of enjoying life. If you feel the same way, you are going to love SodieDooDotch, because it reflects my desire to bring the joy back into parenting, learning, and life.
The term SodieDooDotch is a word that has been used in my family for years. It means soda, pop, coke (a very general term for a carbonated beverage here in the South), or whatever else you happen to call that type of drink. As children, we would ask for a sodie doo dotch at every possible opportunity. Getting to have one was special, a treat, one of life’s joys. Hearing those words reminds me of the simplicity of childhood and the excitement of getting to drink one of those sweet, fizzy treats. What better way to reconnect with those feelings than to bring them back by looking at the world through the eyes of a child and finding joy in the little things?
